When I found this picture on Facebook and shared it, it was “liked” so many times. This showed me how important the message was and today I want to explore it a bit more.
We live in a world where things are speeding up more and more. Our communication, our means of transport, our message transmission – even time seems to fly faster than it used to. The demands placed on us, things that have to get done and tasks that have to be delivered in ever decreasing times – everything accelerates.
Have we forgotten that humans are not computers whose speed can be changed at will? Have we forgotten that being human is more than our daily adjustment to an ever faster pace?
No, we didn’t. We remember exactly. We know that being human means development and that development does not happen overnight, but in steps. That development is something personal, unique for everyone – and that this development can only be healthy if it is in harmony with the pace of our soul.
We know it – this is why this post got so many likes. This picture addresses one of our deepest longings. Our longing to have time, to have the courage to allow ourselves the time that our development and transformation needs.
This image connects us like an invisible mutual encouragement. By acknowledging it we confess to one another that we all need time. Time to develop into the human being we can and should be, from the caterpillar to the butterfly.
In Family Constellations we experience something similar. We come to the workshop in the state of the caterpillar. We have problems, questions, we know that something should be different, that we are not where or what we want to be. At the end of the constellation we often already see ourselves as the butterfly – we have that wonderful feeling of “everything is fine”, a deep impression of who we truly are.
But also here applies the motto of the picture: “Give yourself time”. The “quick run” in the constellation, so to speak the “time in the cocoon”, in real life needs time. And it is not us to determine this time, but our soul. Our task is to grant our soul this time, and acknowledge it with humbleness and patience.
This is our contribution and our responsibility for the transformation from the caterpillar to the butterfly.
I cannot imagine a more beautiful work than supporting people in this process and I thank you all for giving me your trust by joining my constellation workshops.
Looking forward to seeing you in Malta in April.
May you celebrate the beginning of spring and may you be blessed.
